Hi Folks,
I hope you'll forgive me for not updating the site as often as I should but I have been doing a lot of traveling lately and I just got back home last night. I was recently at the Charlie Daniels Celebrity Golf Tournament in Wichita, Kansas and had a great time. I also hosted the Charlie Daniels motorcycle poker run and we had twice the motorcycles as last year. I was lucky to meet Lowell Kemp of Biker's Edge. Thanks to Branscombe Richmond, the celebrity spokesman for Indian Motorcycles, Lowell, the Indian dealer in Wichita put me on a beautiful Indian Motorcycle for the poker run. Lowell was also my riding partner for the ride. After the ride I helped judge an incredible car show and that night we did a big concert. The show included Mark Gray, Carl Jackson, R.C. Bannon, Bonnie Bramlett, Shane Minor, The Sisters Wade, myself and of course Charlie Daniels. On Sunday, Charlie Daniels, Shane Minor and myself teamed up for the Celebrity Shoot-out on the golf course and we got eliminated on the second hole. So much for our golf skills. Monday was the regular celebrity golf tournament and my team did not even place. Well, you can't win 'em all. Mark Gray won the tournament and the Alvarez guitar.
Last weekend I was in Lexington, Kentucky for the Children's Charity Classic hosted by J.P. Pennington, lead guitar for the great group Exile, former baseball golden glove winner, Doug Flynn, basketball great and now coach for Moorhead State, Kyle Macy and singer John Michael Montgomery. This is one of the best tournaments I play in around the country. Some of the other celebrities include, Clifton Davis, coach Hugh Durham, comedian, Michael Finney (Michael hosts his own tournament in Scottsdale, AZ in August called the "Dry Heat Classic". I will be there in August) Jeff Foxworthy and Burton Gilliam from "Blazing Saddles".
The event was spectacular. My team won 10th place but the good thing was MY GOLF GAME IS BACK! If you remember, I took a fall in Lexington, KY during the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. I was out of golf for the past six weeks. I didn't know if it would come back or not. Well, it is back and I played one of the best rounds of my life. I was in a zone. I hope I can find it again. Special thanks to Jim Richardson and Nancy Nolan for all the FIRST CLASS hospitality. I always love going to Lexington.
I am doing a photo session this week with my truck for a new magazine called "Tailgate". Obviously, it is a truck magazine. It is being detailed and some upgrades have been done including the new 1005 video screen from Alpine. I will be showing the truck along with the trailer and motorcycle at the Techacapi airport on the 4th of July. My friend, Bob Souza, invited me up to do what I could do to save the airport. I hope it works. It is a beautiful community.
On June 29th I leave for Pueblo, CO to do a guest spot with Branscombe Richmond of the TV show, "Renegade". I will be part of his live concert at one of the Indian casinos. That should be a blast. I love playing with good musicians. His group is called "The Renegade Posse" and they are great.
I leave July 7th for Chicago. I will be part of the Keith Jennings Celebrity Golf Tournament. Keith plays for the Chicago Bears. One of the great things we will get to do is go to a Cubs game and have a private party on the roof of a building overlooking left field of Wrigley Field. That will be a hoot.
When I get home the middle of July, I plan on being home for a little while. I need some rest. That would be a good time to do another chat session. I will speak to April and we will set it up. I look forward to that. Until then, thanks for staying so loyal to me and I hope we get to meet somewhere along my travels. If you see my coming to town, please come by the event and say hello.
All my best and God Bless!
Mickey
